Januari recap

Hello,

Had a rough start of the year at the tables but still I managend to make some money so thats fine. Im happy so far with my 'new lifestyle' which contains going to the gym three times a week and be awake before a certain time what makes me feel more balanced.
During my downswing last month I once again totally lost confindence in my ability to beat the games. It doesn't matter how much money I won on a consistent basis I still feel like I'm the worst player on the planet during a huge downswing. I really don't care about loosing some money but its the fact that you totally feel like you have no chance to win or come even close.
But after all I realize that poker doesn't owe me anything and that poker brought me so much over de last 2-3 years.

I wanted to share a great post from jimmyvjv13 at 2+2.

This is the most toxic type of thinking in poker. Thinking about what you "should" have is both disastrous for your game and downright stupid. I lost AK to A7 AIPF at the final table of the nightly 100k this weekend for the chiplead. SHOULD I have won $23,000 that night? No, that's what first place got paid and I didn't get first.

Poker doesn't owe you anything. You play the game and you get the cards you're dealt. It's as simple as that. Every hand is a statistically independent event. Yes in the long run luck should even out but the cards have no memory and the fact that you have lost 100 straight all ins doesn't mean you're any more or less of a favorite in your next all in.

For those of you b*tching and moaning about EV just stop looknig at it. It is a number that will simply piss you off. You don't need all in EV to have an accurate representation of whether or not you're playing well. Any person that plays enough to get SNE knows whether they're playing well regardless. And as far as looking at it to "see how much i should be up" is just going to piss you off. Who cares about how much you SHOULD be up? Just because you are $X under EV over 100k hands that you will be up $X over the next 100k, or even a million hands. You may never get it back. The fact of the matter is EV is completely unnecessary and looking at it not only pointless but also detremental to your game.

Live in the moment
Focus on the hand you're playing
Don't Tilt
Make Supernova Elite
Profit

EZ game? No. Profitable if you can fake it most of the way? Yes

Funny hand where I got owned by a fish:

2009 - 2010

Hello,

It’s time for some updates! I’m always lazy with updating my blog but what’s the point of having one if you don’t use it. For everyone responded to the staking post: I will try to pick some of you in the future.
I just came back from a well deserved trip to the PCA with my girlfriend. I didn’t get anything going in the ME (lost set vs. set) but apart from that we have had a great time. At least Chiren was owning it up at the PCA; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9AvK_C6-f_U
We stayed at the cove which is a huge upgrade compared to the other towers but still not worth the money imo (1k a night if I’m right). The overall service at Atlantis is horrible and a lot of the employees aren’t friendly at all. If you want to use the gym you need to $15 which is just a example of the absurdity.
Once again I met a lot of online legends and it’s always fun to put a face with a screen name. Apart from the ME I didn’t play any poker which feels really good. I’m feeling fresh again and play way better now compared to late 2009.
December was a crazy month poker wise. I managed to make 70k in a day playing heads up cash games and loosing most of it back in the rest of the month. I really don’t want to handle these swings so I will try to control myself not to play high stake cash games. The variance is just absurd, the edge’s are small and I’m not a topnotch cash game player.

2009 ended and all I can say Is that I’m very pleased with my overall results. I reached my goal to make SNE which was my main target. There are still aspect to work on and I have the following resolutions for this year:

- Don’t autopilot all the time and play more my best game.
- No huge downswings.
- Don’t mess up games for no reason. (take more breaks if needed)
- Work out more often and get in better shape.
- Get SNE.
- Take MTT’s serious: play more, focus more, improve my game.
- And last but obv not least: Make a half million dollars.

Today I played my first session of 2010 and profited a little over 2k. I also went semi deep in the Stars 162:

Dealt to diBasio [9h 9c]
sindy2: raises 1950 to 3350
spiritedreal: folds
diBasio: calls 3350
göki84: folds
jjking: folds
pilaa: folds
ronaldgrauer: folds
Wallyayay: folds
*** FLOP *** [2h 9s Ad]
sindy2: bets 5750
diBasio: calls 5750
*** TURN *** [2h 9s Ad] [Ah]
sindy2: checks
diBasio: bets 5600
sindy2: raises 13292 to 18892 and is all-in
diBasio: calls 13203 and is all-in
Uncalled bet (89) returned to sindy2
*** RIVER *** [2h 9s Ad Ah] [6h]
*** SHOW DOWN ***
sindy2: shows [Ac 6c] (a full house, Aces full of Sixes)
diBasio: shows [9h 9c] (a full house, Nines full of Aces)
sindy2 collected 59306 from pot

All the best in 2010!

Small stakes player? Staking for the $200 HU MTT inside!

Hey all,

Since I made the amount of money what I normally dont make in a month in one single day I want to stake a few players in the 200 HU MTT on stars or smaller HU MTTs if you prefer. Please only apply if you are a small stakes player and you wont be able to play this tournament within your bankroll. Also would prefer if you have decent sharkscope stats and are a serious player. If you happen to cash in the tournament I'd like to split 50/50.
Remember its nothing personal if i dont pick you, If i dont pick you this week u might be picked in the future!

Regards,

DiBasio

I am a Supernova Elite

Finally after hours of grinding i reached SNE yesterday which is a huge milestone for me. This year so far went exactly like I hoped for and im very pleased with my results.

Late last month I played the World Heads Up tournament in London. London is a great city with lots of things to see and im sure i will be back there sometime. Me and my girfriend had a good time and met Bryan (PrimordialAA) and his wife several times and had alot fun. The tournament was pretty much a big disappointment. There were only like 42 players (180 cap) including alot sick pro players like Dario Minieri and Sorel Mizzi. I ended up playing and loosing the first game against Romanello who is a Fulltilt pro. I couldnt hit anything and while he was hitting and calling with 4th pair when i made a move it was hard to win. It was a good experience though and i should play more live heads up to get a better feeling.

This month started as a big rollercoaster. I made the first two days 22k with cash games. After this i managed to lost 25k in one single day playing 100/200 limit. For some reason I went on supertilt and donated a big chunk to some of the regulars overthere. I really hate myself for this but as long as this only happends once a year im cool with it. I have also decided not to attent for the LAPT in Costa Rica. Its 2 days travel for just a few nights there and im not in the travel mood right now.

SNE/World HU Championship/MCOP/LAPT Costa Rica

Hello,

I decided to create a blog here and will try to blog more frequently from now on.
The year so far is going pretty good pokerwise and im very happy with my results. Heads Up SnG's are going decent and I improved my other forms of poker as MTT's and cashgames. This month I played some cashgames (5/10+) as variation to the husng grind and I am very happy with the results so far. I ran a little above EV and made 33K profit.

Im getting very close to Supernova Elite (930K) now and I cant wait to finally achieve it. Its funny that when I started like two years ago I was hoping that I would ever reach SNE but never thought I actually would.

I recently got alot questions about coaching. As of now im not offering any coaching due to my busy playing schedule.
I might start with this next year and will let you know if i decide to start.

In the next couple of weeks I have a busy schedule playing live tournaments. It starts next week when I'm going to London to play the World Heads-Up Poker Championship. Bryan (PrimordialAA) will also play this and looking forward to hang out with him again. After this I will play some events early November at the Master Classics Of Poker in Amsterdam. The MCOP is the best tournament serie in the Netherlands with various events. Late november I'm going to Costa Rica for the LAPT event and a well deserved holiday.
If anybody is going to one of the tournaments drop me a line!

Updateee Time!

Hello guys,

its been a while since i updated this blog. Part of it was just me being lazy and the other thing was i ran extremely bad for over a month and didnt feel like posting. Vegas was a great time overall and i met alot of the highstake husng players in real which was awesome. Bryan (and his wife) Croix, Skilled_sox, Livb, Raj (Whassup) all are very nice ppl and we had alot of fun drinking/going out to dinner/playing fusball and volleybal.

August was the worst month of the year with a terrible run which i never had before. Im sure all u guys know what i mean but this was a very tough period with constantly donating money. At least i made some money with cashgames, mtts and bonusses. I lost alot money running awfull at 550+ and made it back in 220s to get around even in husngs.

Because of the increasing number of (semi) regulars on Pokerstars im starting to play more on FT from now on. Im at 800k VPP right now so SNE will be easy to make in the comming months. So far the average player is alot worse at FT and also i see winning regulars who play awfull imo. Alot of the guys im talking about are limpers. Its maybe not a bad strategy but idk. Just not my thing.
The turbos on fulltilt have a dif. structure (faster) which makes the variance higher at fulltilt. Alot people cant ever fold a Ace preflop and also dont like to fold if they have any piece of the flop.

Gl all,

May/Vegas/Leaks/Rematch button/Games getting harder?

Hello everyone taking the time to read my random thoughts: ) After a decent April with around 30k in profits including rakeback and fpp bonuses im doing it better in May. With a few days left im close to 50K in profits now including rakeback and fpp bonuses. This brings my total profit in the first 5 month of 2009 at almost 200k which brings me on schedule for my yearly target. My VPP total is around 500k which brings me on pace for SNE.

Next month I will be in Vegas for about 2 weeks staying together with ScottyBCash and leo2222 in a house near the strip. Will arrive around the 24th of june. I decided not the play the HU event because its around my Bday and dont feel like being in Vegas for a long period. Instead I will be playing some other event, and random cash games. Word on the street is that there will be a party at the mansion of PrimordialAA and Skilledsox. Should be a lot of fun.
Lately I took some time to analyze my own play and try to reduce some leaks. My biggest leak is/was calling way to many small 3bets OOP with marginal holdings against players with a incrediable tight 3bet ranges. Of course when I hit a piece of the flop its hard for me to get away since im a station and almost every time im obv way behind against some strong overpair. Another big problem for me is keep playing my A-game a high percentage of the time. At least 50 percent of the time im playing my B-game (which is still enough to beat the clowns im playing) or even worse games. Im trying to work on this issue by taking more breaks during sessions and so far its working out.
Rematch button! Thanks to all the people like ChicogoRy its finally there on stars. To be honest I didn’t expect they would ever implement it but that’s why I love Pokerstars. The first couple of days it didn’t gave me a lot more games but I think people needed time to discover the use of it. All I can say know is that im really happy with all the rematches I get. I even got like a couple 5-10 games session’s with huge donators. With the increasing number of regulars on Stars this is a huge thing to get in enough games.
Speaking of donators, I got a interesting hand which I wanted to show u guys. IMO the action is great lately overall. He was tanking for his whole timeback to finally make the call. He puts me on 45 imo.
